Having arrived two hours late from Madagascar we missed our connecting flight from to New York. The airline was nice enough to comp us a room and rebook us on a flight the next day. Having no luggage and only the clothes we wore on the plane we did as much sight seeing as we could. We didn't have proper shoes for walking the streets of Paris and we didn't have any warm clothes, having just arrived from two weeks in Madagascar so we froze. But it was amazing.

After checking into our hotel room we immediately began exploring. We only had 24 hours to see as much as we could. We took the metro to the center of the city and came up right across the street from the Eiffel Tower. We walked to the observation patio and sat for a while taking in the beautiful sights of people and the city. We strolled the Champs Elysees, looked in the amazing store fronts and ended up at the Arch de Triumph. We walked a few blocks along the River Seine and stood across the street from the cathedral of Notre Dame. Our feet began to hurt so we found a neighborhood grocery store, purchased some yoghurt, cheese, a bottle of wine, a sandwich and sat on a park bench near the Seine. It got a little cold as the sun set but we continued to walk taking advantage of our unplanned chance to experience the city of lights. The Eiffel Tower lit up and it has a beautiful light show about every 30 minutes. Our feet really started to hurt and it was getting very cold so we found a metro station and rode back to our hotel. We had a nice dinner in the hotel and grabbed a few hours sleep before our flight early the next morning.

While strolling in Paris we met other tourists. We saw skate boarders grinding on a stairway along the Seine. We saw a model photography shoot near the Eiffel Tower. We saw roller bladders on the Eiffel Tower patio. We saw locals while we browsed in the grocery store.
